Channel Islands Intergroup
Responsibilities of Retreats and Workshop Chairperson
It’s been a pure pleasure serving as your Chairperson for our Channel Islands Intergroup Retreats and Workshop Committee for the past few years. It’s time for me to pass the baton to another loyal member of our OA fellowship.
Our OA’s Responsibility Pledge is to “always to extend the hand and heart of OA to all who share my compulsion; for this I am responsible.”
And this position does exactly that!
It’s so much fun to work with a dedicated team of OAers and put together workshops and retreats for our community. By this time, the committee is a well-oiled machine, and we’ve put together many well attended events and speakers locally.
As Chair, the main aspect of the job is to make sure all key components are accomplished—such as getting a speaker, determining a location, locking in a date, and making sure to spread the word.
The committee pitches in to do these things, and we take topics from the prior workshop or retreats member surveys. So we’re directly communicating with those we serve! It’s truly been an absolute blast to do this position. And I’m happy to be available should there by any questions.
Jump in! The water is warm!!
